Course Objectives This course aims to raise awareness of the use of grammatical structures in both English and Turkish and thereby enabling the students to use both languages accurately and appropriately.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Use simple and complex grammatical structures in English and Turkish accurately.
  • Form grammatically-correct sentences and texts in English and Turkish.
  • Translate sentences from English into Turkish by adhering to the rules of Turkish grammar.
  • Translate sentences from Turkish into English by adhering to the rules of English grammar.
  • Analyze the texts translated from English into Turkish in terms of grammar.
  • Analyze the texts translated from Turkish into English in terms of grammar.
  • Gain a comparative insight into Turkish and English grammar.
Course Description This course enables the students to study simple and complex grammatical structures in Turkish and English and use both languages accurately and appropriately. It also provides insight into the similarities and differences between Turkish and English within the context of translation studies. Having been provided with some theoretical input about Turkish and English grammar, the students are expected to translate the given grammatical structures.
